The map on the HKGeology App shows just how extensive this tunnel network is:

Leighton Hill tunnel layout

I've highlighted the grid of ARP tunnels in red, but also noticed a couple of extra tunnels that I've highlighted in blue. Although it looks as though the red and blue tunnels are connected, I don't think they are. The red tunnels are down at the base of the hill, at street level. I guess the blue tunnels were dug into the top of the hill by the Japanese as part of their preparations to defend Hong Kong against attack.

Thanks to Freddie for introducing the HKGeology maps to us.

actually this network is the only one that (last time I went) has an entrance not locked up. There is a lane next to number 77 (HSBC) on leighton hill road. Take the lane as it bends around the side of a slope. Keep walking and on your left you will see a heavy door that is NOT LOCKED (unlike most of them) and it just has a string keeping it closed. Open and go inside. Its a huge network.  and make sure to close it up after so the rest of us can also access it

Both Leighton Hill Road and your marker situated within the gate of a private estate, is there any way to enter the tunnel from a public place? Say, somewhere downhill?

The only HSBC I am able to locate is at Leighton Road instead of Leighton Hill Road. Is it what you're referring to?

Yes, that is the exact one. Go down that alley and turn right. Continue down (30 meters or so) and you will see a metal door with a tree growing over it along the slope. It is tied up to look like it is locked but it is not. There are many other openings/doors along that alley but all others are locked up. I hope the afore mentioned opening is still open.

I advise closing door when you are inside and tieing it up when you leave. Sometimes there are quite a few people on smoke break in that alley and its good to keep a lower profile, don't want anyone to report to lands dept. or they might seal it up.

Happy exploring.

Seems as if it's been welded shut already as of 2022 according to hkoutdooradventures, I'll go check to make sure.
