I have read a web forum (one of the forums that had followed the Magazine Gap city boundary back then) and the participants there once undertook a hike to look for the 10+ marker stones around the site and they have succeeded. I will try to dig out that link again later. They have taken many photos along the way too.
The Governor's Residence Marker Stones delineate the boundary of Mountain Lodge. Governor's Summer Residence, up the Peak. A recent AMO archaeological survey has found numerous stones including War Department boundary stones adjacent to the site. Link: http://gwulo.com/node/4044
Prior to WWII, there was a plan to build a 'new' Government House at Magazine Gap but it was not carried out.

The buildings were completed in July and occupied by His Excellency the Governor on his return to the Colony in September.
Progress of construction is also mentioned in the PWD reports for 1900 (item 28), and 1901 (item 39).
The architect was Palmer & Turner.
