'Beach Chalets' in Tsuen Wan district

There are at least 4 old buildings - pre-war - on the steps down from Castle Peak Road to Ho Mei Beach in Tsuen Wan district which I can only describe as, at a guess, old beach chalets.   I was wondering if anyone knows the background history to these ?    You have to take a look to see the curiosity value in them - apologies, no photos this time!

The steps to the beach are next to the Airport Core Programme Exhibition Centre - in the old Homi Villa built for the Ruttonjee family and later British Army quarters.

Gilmans in London

My grandfather, Henry John Cleere (1851-1936), worked for Gilmans in the City of London until his retirement in the early 1920s, when I believe he was Chief Clerk. I remember Sir Charles Trinder, a former Chairman of the Ellerman Line and Lord Mayor of London, telling me that he remembered my grandfather as "a tall distinguished gentleman who was widely respected." We have in the family a bed-table inscribed "To H.J.

The Missing History of Hong Kong Police Between 1841-1941

I have been told that as a result of the invasion and occupation of Hong Kong during World War II, almost all original records and correspondence of the Hong Kong Police were lost.  Most people suspected that they were deliberately destroyed prior to and during the invasion, or being shipped to Japan.
