Leslie John Mctavish was my Uncle and he is buried in Happy Valley.He died in 1990.He was a Prison Officer and came over in the early 1930s
i was wondering if anyone knew of him.i know little about his like in HK.
We have family photos of him but I had difficulty working out how to post them on here.
Albert Jillott was my Grandfather. As far as I know he arrived in Hong Kong after the 1st world war on a ship from Archangel in Russia. He had been posted there with the Royal Marines. The story goes that at the end of the war he slipped the billeting officer a few quid and asked to be put on the next ship out of there. That went to Hong Kong, so that’s where he stayed.
Tony Banham notes that McCutcheon was a member of the Stanley platoon.
McCutcheon also appears on the 1940 list of Prison Officers, having started service on 24th April 1928.
"S. Hodge" appears on the List of Prison Officers for 1940, which shows he started work there on 4th August, 1927.
