Edward Lumsden HOSIE [c.1885-1971]

He first appears in Hong Kong on the 1915 Jurors List:

c Hosie Edward Lumsden   Dock Co   Kowloon docks

He was a long-term resident, appearing in every Jurors List up to and including 1941. He continued working for the Dock Company, but there were minor changes in the lists that followed:

Mary Ann DINNEN (née KILLAH) [????-????]

Mary Ann Dinnen nee Killah born 1859 king edward aberdeenshire scotland, parents william killah and amelia killah nee cruickshank who married in 1855 gamrie baniffshire scotland. Mary killah appears on the 1871 census records then aged 12 and then on the 1871 aged 22 and her employment was a domestic servant at the old parish school house gamrie. She then resurfaces in 1885 when she married HJ Dinnen in NSW australia i have the marriage certificate. She is then on a 1891 census in the UK AGE 32 as a boarder along with william h dinnen age 4 who was born in hong kong.

George MILNE [1909-1977]

His entry in the 1941 Jurors List:

c   Milne, George Assistant Secretary, Dairy Farm, Ice & Cold Storage Co., Ld. Alandale, Pokfulam.

He became the General Manager of Dairy Farm after the previous GM (my Grandpa J.D. Thomson) retired.

William MELROSE [1906-????]

c   Melrose, William Draughtsman, Taikoo Dockyard & Engineering Co. of H.K., Ld. Quarry Bay.

George Gerrard's diary entry for 17 Apr 1943 notes that Mr Melrose was on leave when the Japanese invaded, and so avoided being interned:
