My grandfather Alfred was the first Headmaster of King's College from 1926-1934 following on from his tenure at Saiyingpun school after arriving in Hongkong in 1905 on the "Simla" - with 2 small children, my mother Dorothy Langston nee Morris and Edwin Alan - later killed in WW1.

He was enrolled in the "Key Post Group" of the Hong Kong Defence Reserve in 1939, see announcement 801 in the Hong Kong Gazette for 15 Sep 1939.

It seems George enlisted in HKVDC but I only have his rank (Pte) and service no. 4403. I am not sure what Coy he was in. I understand he was shipped to Japan but I am not sure on which draft.  (Tony - any idea ?)

His wife Joan was interned in Stanley (where I believe she had twin children although my data base records DoB as 1941 - I dont have the exact date - and it may have been in 1942 ie whilst interned ?

Mother of Winifred, Ancil, Jonathan Goforth, and Eunice Jean. Wife of Ancil.
