"Mrs. Brown" is mentioned several times in R E Jones' diary. There were several "Mrs Brown" in Stanley, so I'm not sure which one he is referring to.

UPDATE 21 Apr 2016: Philip Cracknell believes R E Jones is writing about Muriel Wilfred Brown. He writes:

D L GANDY [c.1902-????]

DoB from John Black's list, which gives Mrs Gandy's occupation in 1941 as "Housewife".

DoB from John Black's list, who gives Pengelly's occupation in 1941 as "PWDept", ie Public Works Department.

He is listed on page J114 of the 1939 Blue Book:

  • Benjamin Pengelly
  • Overseer, Public Works Department
  • Appointed to this position, and first appointment to HK Gov't: 16 Feb, 1934.
