I have a pencilled note to self that Alice Lesbirel was in the same class as Nellie Olson (b. 1886). As there was a large age difference between Alice and her sister, Celestina, the two girls may have been the children of two different marriages of their father Charles Lesbirel. The Olsons and the Lesbirels, both from tavern owning families, moved in the same social circles.

Is Alice Lesbirel the "unkown woman?"
A while ago, with a lot of help from Gwulo contributor eurasian_david, I tried to identify the "unknown woman" in an old Warren family photo, taken on the balcony of 98a Wanchai Road, home of John Olson snr and his family. We thought that the photo might be of Ann or Alice Lesbirel. The photo would have been taken before John Olson's death in 1918.
Nellie Olson was in the same class as Alice Lesbirel. The Olsons and the Lesbirels were friends. Can anyone help me find a photo of either Alice or Ann Lesbirel in the Hong Kong newspapers? - Perhaps of a wedding of one of them. I should also like to contact Hilary B who is great-granddaughter of Charles Lesbirel and asked to contact me through Gwulo in 2023, but never got in touch. Hilary might have photos of her ancestors.

A quick glance, the Lesbirel girls, Alice, Annie and May as well as Nellie Olson all went to the same school, Belilios Public School for Girls. The file trail goes cold after 1920. It is doubtful there will be photos of the Lesbirel girls in the Hong Kong newspapers.

Many thanks for the HKPL link, moddsey. I didn't really know about it. Interesting that one of the Lesbirel girls was winning tennis prizes in 1917. A pity no picture! I will go through what you have sent me more thoroughly today.
