James Robinson and his wife Florence became friends and supporters of Mildred Dibden and her Fanling Babies' Home through their daughter Bonnie Penny.  The fact that all three of their birthdays were recorded in the flyleaf of Mildred's Bible gives an indication of their closeness.

During the War, both the Robinsons were interned at Stanley along with daughter Bonnie

In June 1942 when the Habade parcels were given out with money provided by the Japanese (or Red Cross) Florence Robinson received foodstuffs like jam, cocoa and Oxo, together with sunglasses, and a thermos flask, while James Robinson asked for and received a toothbrush, toothpaste and a shaving stick.  They all survived the war.

After the War the Robinsons moved into the Fanling Babies' Home to help with the housekeeping on the catering side, and in 1949, they moved out to a home of their own. (Was this retirement? Florence was in her 60s and James in his 70s by this time).

James predeceased his wife and died in July 1951, aged 77.  He was buried in the Hong Kong Cemetery.
