Dunford and The Chalet were two adjacent houses on RBL 31, just below the Mount Kellett ridge. They were visually distinctive due to their mock Tudor-era, exposed, black wooden beams and whitewashed walls.

RBL 31 was put up for public auction on 7 July 1884 (1), result unknown. Both the 1887 Peak and Ladies Directories (2 & 3) mention Dunford and The Chalet with the Deer's and Poate's said to be residents respectively. They were still labelled as such on the 1924 map (4), but the mid-1950's map (5) shows two buildings labelled "Kellett Grove" and of a different shape on the site.

Therefore, Dunford and The Chalet were constructed at sometime between July 1884 and 1887, and replaced by "Kellett Grove" sometime between 1924 and the mid-1950's.

Hi Annelisec, I think your 1844 date above is probably a typo. 1884 perhaps?
