Rev Cecil S Ward was appointed to serve in Canton in 1940, along with his wife. The Southern Baptist Commission Magazine of June 1941 gives House #20 Cheung Chau as his address so he must have been doing his language study at the Language School on Cheung Chau. He was helping in Sunday School work in Hong Kong churches and teaching in the Pooi In Bible School under Flora Dodson.
He was interned in Stanley Camp when the Japanese invaded and repatriated on the Gripsholm in 1942.
