KCR diesel No 51 SIR ALEXANDER shunting at the former Hung Hom freight yard 09 1980

Built to a General Motors design in 1954 by the Clyde Engineering Pty. Co.Ltd. Australia, the SIR ALEXANDER and LADY MAURINE were the first two diesel locomotives for the KCR. The two dustbin like structures on the top were silencers added following public complaints about the noise they made when entering service in September1955.
