During the December 1941 Battle of Hong Kong, one of the defensive artillery positions in the area was the 25 Medium Battery of the Hong Kong-Singapore Royal Artillery (HKSRA).
They operated 6-inch howitzers and were positioned right at Tiger Balm Garden on Hong Kong Island.

During the intense fighting, the artillery pieces positioned at the Tiger Balm site were heavily engaged, with one gun officially lost to enemy action by December 19.
