Two remarks regarding the photo. The building on the left of the heliport is not the Anne Black Hong Kong Red Cross Headquarters [1965-2015] but a building belonging to the dockyard. The HQ building was on the left of the building shown.

The date is probably incorrect and should be in the 1960s. The main photo was taken earlier than the photo shown below:

1964 Naval Dockyard (HMS Tamar), by moddsey

In the main photo, reclamation works are not finished yet. In the 1964 photo, they are.

Thanks. Will amend the main photo.

Given the presence of the reclamation work in the main photo and the high-rise buildings in the background, I think the main photo is of a later date than the 1964 photo quoted on Flickr.

Yes, only one helicopter landing area can be seen. By 1971, the heliport was enlarged for commercial operations and included additional landing and parking areas.

Let's tackle these 2 images separately.

The minesweeper with 437 on her bow is USS Enhance, MSO 437, an American ocean going sweeper of the Aggressive class launched oct 11th 1952, deleted end of 1991 and scrapped 2000.

Immediately visible over the top of her is an RN Leander class frigate, almost certainly Dido or Ajax, i cannot put an id to the ship bows to us on the outer arm.

Could someone with full access to shipping movements check out this info, then you will certainly get a specific time within a few days and probably the outer arm ship, it is certainly a support tanker of some sort, either USNS or less likely RFA. This is from the 1963/64 era, lots of warship movements for a very good reason.
