It took me a while to work out that "Arginos" referred to the crew of the aircraft carrier, HMS Argus, pictured just below this photo in the 1926-1928 album of W.R. Fell who was commanding the HMS L3 submarine on the China Station in 1928. Everyone is well wrapped up, so it must be winter. Not all are in uniform. One person seems to be wearing a cricket sweater. Two are wearing hats with earflaps. Are they pilots? They seem to have attracted quite a crowd of locals.A couple of lucky people are holding tankards of beer. Maybe this occasion was recorded in the newspapers. The location is given as Mirs Bay. Would that be the captain in the foreground? Some of the officers may be recorded elsewhere. Any more information welcome.
