This aerial photo from 1969 (no exact date given) shows the progress of reclamation to construct Gloucester Road/Victoria Park Road.
The older location of the noonday gun (red circle) can still be seen, the new one (blue circle) seems to be unfinished but ready to have the gun placed here soon. Tngan lived close to this area, and he does not recall any break in the midday gun firing. Therefore, the gun still operated during the reclamation works on the older site and was transferred to the new one in (likely) 1969/70 when the old site was rebuilt.
Right (east) of the older site is Riviera Mansion.
