Hi There,

The twin towers in mid-right is the Ohel Leah Synagogue. The former Police Married Quarters is on the upper right corner.  I guess the photographer was somewhere on the Peak area.

T

ps    There is also the Caine Lane complex, the then Pathalogical Institute.  Could somebody confirm if HoTung's #8 Seymour Road is visible in the photo?

The building at the bottom of the photograph is I believe Buxey Lodge 2nd generation on Conduit Road. After WW2 this building was used by the RN and subsequently by the HK Govt before being demolished around 1959 and being replaced by the current Buxey Lodge, 3rd generation; a HK Govt block of 60 flats.

The photo was probably taken from Lugard Road. Here's a similar view today, with the current Buxey Lodge in the bottom centre of the view, between the two top railings. Although the synagogue still exists, it is hidden by the taller buildings that surround it.

T, when I first looked at the photo I thought the black flat roof on the left hand side, lower middle, could be Idlewild?Ian
