This inter-service cycle race took place within the area of of Kai Tak airfield.  In this photograph the buildings to the left were some of the RAF accommodation blocks.   In 1955 the Commanding Officer of RAF Sek Kong had used a special fund, which he controlled, to purchase 6 racing bikes for use by the 'other ranks' of that station.  Gradually we got into competition with Army units and one lad, Corporal Ron Beck , turned out to be a very good racer.  In this photo he is fourth from the front, in the centre of the  pack, wearing a white T-shirt.  He later won a race held in Macau and was presented with a large, silver rose bowl and a racing bike, by the Portuguese governor  He later rode for one of the teams in the Tour de France.
