paddy field fisherman ping shan 1954

Small minows were put into the paddyfields (to eat the mosquito larva I beleive).  I do not remember ever seeing them being introduced into the water, so do not know if they were put there alive or as eggs.  I would occasionally see this man come along with his net - rather like the nets we used for shrimp fishing at the beach, when we were kids.   Later, I would see a canvas sheet, spread out by the road to the guardroom, covered with his catch so they would be preserved by drying in the sun.   The Ping Shan pagoda can be seen through his net, by the big patch.
