Kowloon, Hong Kong, 1965

See the original photo on Flickr.

Couldn't find out the exact location. On the road on the right there is Alaska Furs, then Malaya Restaurant (there was a restaurant with this name at the junction of Mody Road and Minden Row), and AIDA (?). The two roads visible are pointing towards the harbour, and Signal Hill in on the right.  That indicates probably south-east, but I'm lost.

Update: It's Mody Road (see comments below)

This photo here will provide the correct perspective. Correctly said, one is looking west on Mody Road from Nathan Road overlooking the demolished Melbourne Hotel and future Holiday Inn. The alley on the right is between the Holiday Inn and Chungking Mansions.

Thank you moddsey. I originally was suspecting Mody Road but I couldn't identify the road/path on the right. After viewing the photo you posted in your comment it's clear now. Interesting to note that facades of some buildings look a bit rotten on the 1973 photo compared to 1965.

The Malaya restaurant was in Minden avenue off Mody Road.

My favourite place to eat...great satay!
