This picture comes from a news brochure sent to supporters of the Home in 1956. The Home was originally a police station but taken over by Mildred Dibden in 1953 for a nominal rent. These brochures were sent out annually. The photo shows the post-war sparseness of vegetation, when all available wood was taken for cooking and heating. Today the landscape is quite different with high-rise housing and lush green vegetation.
