1930s Junction of Fenwick Street and Lockhart Road

Lockhart Road at the junction with Fenwick Street.

In the 1930s, Jimmy's Kitchen (Wanchai) was located at 42-48 Lockhart Road at the junction. A sign on the wall says "H B Beer at Jimmy's". May have become more of a watering hole than a restaurant prior to its demise.

Post-war, the premises would become the White Horse Bar (1st location).

Just wonder which academy was located in the building on the right hand side?

Very likely a Dancing Academy. In short, a dance hall.

(Not verified but may have been called the Queen's Dancing Academy. Mentioned in the Hong Kong Telegraph dated 15 January 1935 regarding a case of dangerous driving on Lockhart Road outside Jimmy's Kitchen (Wanchai) and the Dancing Academy.

The advertisement for HB Beer on the wall caught my eye. It was the first beer brewed by the H.K. Brewery in 1934/35. Their slogan was ‘Come Where the Booze is Cheaper’.
