The photo came into my possession when a friend died a couple of years ago – his widow didn’t know anything about how he came to have them and passed them on to me. They were taken by someone in a Royal Engineers Unit on its way to Shanghai – they obviously stayed some time in Hong Kong (at Shamshuipo, I think) before moving on.
I've guessed the date to be c.1930, as the HK Hotel North wing isn't visible, but the Gloucester Building hasn't replaced it yet.
