On the right hand side of this postcard one can see the signage for China Products Co. Ltd. During 1970 I enjoyed numerous visits to this department store, which sold products made in the P.R.C. Many of the consumer durables on display there were charmingly retro and very reasonably priced. By way of comparison, some 25 years later when I next visited Hong Kong, I was similarly delighted to visit David “Shanghai” Tang’s art-deco inspired Pedder Street emporium; though here the merchandise was absolutely on trend and appropriately expensive!
