The right side of the street in the photo have even numbered street addresses.
Behind the white sign board of the Top Hat Restaurant & Bar on the extreme right is a partial view of the signboard of the galleon of the Ship Inn at 4 Cornwall Avenue, which indicates the preceding restaurant/bar was located at 2 Cornwall Avenue.
Seem to recall the signboard of the "fish" (cannot clearly discern the lettering) but given its position on the street, it may have been related to the "Ship Inn" establishment.
Thanks. I remember now the takeaway "Hasty Tasty". An English-style fish n chips outlet. Food wrapped in newspaper with a copious amount of dark malt vinegar. Those were the days when parking was not a problem on Cornwall Avenue when waiting for a takeaway.
I remember the fish and chip takeaway opening. Sometime in 1960. We were in a bar in Kowloon and the barman told us about it. He said he could ring them and they would deliver to him. No hesitation, we said OK just chips then. In only a few minutes a large newspaper parcel was sat on the bar and we all got stuck in. I can't remember the bar but I do remember the barman was Irish. We were a group of Royal Engineers (54 Squadron), all National Service, so this ''sharing platter'' was great. As my parents had a Fish and Chip shop back in England it was really special for me.

Having read the other comments I now think ''The Sportsman Bar''rings a bell, sorry about that.
