Nice photo of western Wanchai of the junction of Hennessy and Johnston Roads probably taken from the China Fleet Club. The Sailors and Soldiers Home (now the Hotel Wesley) can be seen to the right of picture at the corner of Anton St and Hennessy Road. The spanking white building at middle top is the St. Francis Canossian College on Kennedy Rd. Bowen Rd with its bridge can be seen in the upper left corner. The building directly behind the school with its entrance via Kennedy Road operated as Royden House Senior School in the early 1970s before its relocation to Sing Woo Rd in Happy Valley.
Also on the top left, just underneath the Bowen Road viaduct, there's a large white house with a cupola. Today its hidden behind the Hopewell Centre, albeit in a dilapidated state. If I remember correctly its earmarked for redevelopment.
The square on the north side of Hennessy road was Urban Services Department garage (USD garage) according to HKmap.com in 1965. Those trucks are for refuse collection. The Urban Council is responsible for it.

Yes, I can confirm that it
Yes, I can confirm that it was taken from a rear window of the China Fleet Club. I took an almost identical photograph in 1958 but from street level.

re: large white house with a cupola
jyl, well spotted. I've made a separate place for it, and added in some extra information about the building.
