Looking at the section of the "fence" that is near to the shore, I can see what looks like joints at regular intervals, like you'd see in a pipeline. I wonder if this was used to sell fresh water to boats?
Looking at 10pm from the pier in the distance, the large building on the hill is the Naval Hospital. As the pier is nearer to us it is east of the hospital building in this photo, so I don't think the pier can be the 1,000 foot pier.

I'm wondering about the fence-like structure in in foreground. Doesn't look like a pier because you can't walk on it.
There is a large pier in Wanchai, possibly the 1,000 foot pier.

Yes, this is not the 1,000 foot pier. It is probably the one shown on the 1874 map opposite ML 122.
