Hong Kong Panorama 2

Ce magnifique panorama de plus d'un mètre de Hong Kong et de son port est composé de quatre photos collées les unes à côté des autres. Il a très probablement été pris en 1896 ou 1897. Sur le deuxième cliché en partant de la gauche, on repère en effet un chantier en cours : celui du bâtiment du Hong Kong Club (香港會), achevé justement en 1897 et dont les travaux sont ici bien avancés. Autres bâtiments bien reconnaissables sur ce cliché : à droite du club, l'hôtel de ville (舊香港大會堂) puis le bâtiment de la HSBC (滙豐總行大廈) ; juste derrière, la tour de la cathédrale Saint-Jean-l'Évangéliste de Hong Kong (聖約翰座堂) ; sur le troisième cliché, sur une hauteur, une partie de la cathédrale de l'Immaculée-Conception (聖母無原罪主教座堂) ; sur le quatrième cliché, le marché central (中環街市).

This magnificent panorama of more than one meter of Hong Kong and its port is made up of four photos glued next to each other. It was most likely taken in 1896 or 1897. On the second photo from the left, we can indeed see a construction site in progress: that of the Hong Kong Club building (香港會), completed in 1897 and whose work are well advanced here. Other buildings that are clearly recognizable in this photo: to the right of the club, the town hall (舊香港大會堂) then the HSBC building (滙豐總行大廈); just behind, the tower of the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist of Hong Kong (聖約翰座堂); on the third photo, on a hill, part of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (聖母無原罪主教座堂); on the fourth photo, the central market (中環街市).
