Update - Originally thought the former Court House/Supreme Court was on the left. After review, I have deleted its location.

  • China Drawn Work Co,

The sign at the left building reads: D'Almada & Mason solicitors

Their address in 1917 was at 33 Queen's Road Central.(source).

It looks as if all houses between 33 QRC and Pedder Street have been demolished. This would match the year 1921 or 1922.

Addendum: Mumeya Photographers had their studio at 38-40 QRC (source

Thanks Klaus. I was just typing out the following list for reference. The year 1921/1922 matches.

A. Source: Directory & Chronicle for China, Japan etc., for 1921

1. D. Chellaram, Silk Merchant - 36A QRC

(Chellaram was also the proprietor of the Royal Silk Store at the same address)

2. D'Almada & Mason, Solicitors - 33 QRC

3. Tabaqueria Filipina, Tobacconists -  38-40 QRC

B. Source: China Mail 3 January 1921

4. Mumeya, Japanese Photographers - recently moved to 36A QRC (upper floor),

C. Source: China Mail 30 December 1921

5. The Pharmacy - 22 QRC

6. Mumeya & Sano, Normal Artificial Light Studio - 38-40 QRC (upper floor, opposite Hong Kong Theatre)

Given that 22 QRC is visible, the empty lot in front of it, formerly 24-32 QRC would be for the construction of the Asiatic Building. The view from Pedder Street below:
