There is a building south of the Po Hing Theatre. It appears on some photos from the 1940s and 1950s. It is probably a hotel, built on the place of todays Nathan Hotel.
Nathan hotel has been there since the 1930s. The first generation Nathan hotel was closed on April 29 1965. It was rebuilt as a 18-storey building with first floor as a restaurant and mall, 2nd, 3rd floors as tea house and the rest as hotel. It was going to take 3 years.
Update: The Hotel Nathan at 372-378 Nathan Road was a newly erected building equipped with modern conveniences. It opened on 17 April 1930. The Hong Kong Telegraph of the same day refers. Places have been created for Hotel Nathan and its replacement Nathan Hotel in 1968. Further information is provided.
