One of the authors Mr Shum Chi Min (岑智明) bought a photo album in an auction market which contains this photo. The album recorded the aftermath in Hong Kong of a typhoon on Aug 18, 1923. Further out in the districts towards Kowloon City, Hung Hom and Sham Shui Po, motor buses had been caught by the elements and overturned on their sides, some of them badly smashed. One of those on the Kowloon City Road had been lifted right off the road and hurled into a paddy field. Hong Kong Daily Press 20 August 1923 refers.
