(Timeline added, based on the comments below:)

1963 - The pier opens for business. Initially it handles the Hung Hom - North Point ferry service that moved here from the pier off Gillies Avenue.

1975 - The Hung Hom - Wanchai ferry service also moved here. That service previously ran from the adjacent pier, slightly southwest of this one.

1979 - This pier is closed. Both ferry services move to the new pier, near to the KCR turntable.

The present day foot bridge stands more or less along the old sea front.  We could use the bridge as a reference for the three piers.

It seems to me that this pier was reactivated from about 1990 to 1991 when the new pier south-west of it was lost to reclamation. In 1991, it was replaced by the current pier.

The pier at this marker operated from 1963 to 1975 for north point line only. From 1975 to 1979, wanchai service was added to this pier. In 1979, both lines moved to a new pier in the picture below:

The hunghom to north point pier did not need to be reactivated. In 1988, the north point service just moved to the temporary pier at Hunghom Bay Center with the other services. In 1991, they moved to Whampoa garden.

Something is not quite right.

The North point pier was moved from Gilles road to Whampoa street after the reclamation in 1963.
A news report reported that move:

In 1975, the Hunghom train terminal was opened and the Star Ferry Co. restarted the Central service by borrowing the Hunghom/Wanchai pier from YMT. YMT moved its Wanchai service to this pier. From 1975 on, this pier served both North point and Wanchai.

The pier at this marker was not built in 1979. Its position being along Cheong Hang Road indicates it was the northmost pier parallel to Whampoa street (see 1978 map below).

It should be the old pier which moved from Gilles road to Whampoa Street in 1963. In 1979, a new pier was built to replace this one at the turntable in the map below.

I've updated the title, and added a timeline at the top of the page.

For the title, I've just used its location so that it doesn't become too long.

Please let me know if any corrections are needed, then I'll move on to the next pier.

These pictures are captured from a TV series "under the lion rock" made in 1976. The show followed a woman who got on board the star ferry boat at the Central pier but arrived on a HYF boat at the North point-Wanchai pier. Then somehow she walked over fron Hung Hom to 橫頭磡(Wang Tau Hom).
