Could have been shot from our room at the old Park Hotel (Chatham/Cameron Road). For me it looks like a combination of old houses due for demolition and squatter huts.
Update 2020-11-23: Rear view of Canton Road near its junction with Kowloon Park Drive (see comments below).
Google Streetview gives today's appearance.

Another possibility could be
Another possibility could be looking at the backs of buildings on Ashley Road from Kowloon Park Drive. That would fit with the photo of Haiphong Street market taken around the same time.
Most have been re-developed, but there are still a couple of similar buildings along there:

Location of this image
David, your suggestion could be better than mine. All my images originally were slides which are numbered (I used Kodachrome with paper frames, processed by Kodak and stamped with consecutive numbers). My image of Kowloon Park (Base ID136623) is No. 4, this one is No. 5, and Shop with people = Haiphong Road Temporary Market (Base ID 136659) is No. 6.

Re: Photo Location
Recently seen the old tenement buildings in a photo (with watermark). Yes, it is Kowloon Park Drive but near the junction with Canton Road. The buildings shown are on the east side of Canton Road. The tall buildings under scaffolding are part of the Harbour City redevelopment.
Re: Photo Location
Hi moddsey, you're narrowing the possibilities of this location. The old houses should be on the photo below north of the taller building visible west of Whitfield Barracks.
I think the road behind the square white building (possibly a warehouse) is Haiphong Road, the house under construction Hanley House.
Re: Photo Location
Looked on the website HKMS 2.0. An aerial view from April 1980 shows this area, believe that the buildings in the circle match with the ones on my photo.
Well done, moddsey. Regards, Klaus
Yes, Those are the Buildings
Yes, the area circled show the buildings.
