She was evacuated to Australia. The Hewitts were neighbours of the Warrens and living at 18 Broadwood Road in 1938 when Leslie Warren decided to send his wife and children to England. Apparently the Hewitts took over the Warrens' much loved dog, Timmy, who appears in many photos. He was commemorated by another Timmy who figures in my own early childhood photos in Ceylon.
