Mr Walter Hanming Chen Is Buried At Pokfulam

 

The funeral service of the late Mr Walter Hanming Chen, a journalist and lawyer, who died on Tuesday at the age of 64, was held at the International Funeral Parlour yesterday attended by many mourners. The Rev M.C. Chow and the Rev Lau Chi-ping officiated.

 

James Eyles (Iles) KEATING [1839-1884]

"MEMBERS of the Masonic fraternity will regret to hear that the death of Mr James Keating, who left here for the Australian Colonies about twelve months since, has been officially confirmed. When Mr Keating landed at Sydney on the 23rd August last he was suffering from fever, and went at once to the Sydney Hospital, where he died on the 29th Aug."

SYDNEY OLD HONG KONG HANDS

In Sydney there are periodic lunches convened under the name of the "Fragrant Harbour" lunch group. They are very informal and usually occur the third Wednesday of the month.The next lunch will be January 21. If there are any old HK hands interested in joining this lunch please let me know. The only requirement is that you have lived and worked in HK during the past few decades.

Helene Marie BROOKS (née CAUDRON) [1919-2006]

My mother, Helene Marie Caudron Brooks, was the 2nd of the three daughters of Maurice (Kleber) and Marcelle Caudron.  She was born in Ohain, Nord, France and as a young girl went with her family to live in Singapore for a few years before moving with them in her teens to Hong Kong in the early 1930s where her  father set up a trading company operating between France and Hong Kong. He family retained their property in northern France and she travelled there often.
