Forward Dressing Station - on the slope above Tin Wan Estate [????- ]

Submitted by tngan on Thu, 02/14/2013 - 11:21

Location of marker is approximate.  This building is clearly marked in the GeoInfo Map.  Most likely in current 1:10000 & 1:5000 maps too.

Walked by this Forward Dressing Station on 12th February.  It would seem it might have been used by squatters after the war.  At that time and before the housing developments, the slopes are full of huts and terraces.  The terraces are much over grown but still visible if you know where to look.

29 Marker Stone [????- ]

Hi there,

I went along the Lady Clementi's Ride earlier today and spotted this stone at a 4-way junction on the eastern side of the Aberdeen Reservoir.  The stone had been lying on it's sides and part of it is burried.  The number 29 was engraved topside, as well as one one of the sides.

Even with proper tools working on this one to confirm the engraving is going to be tricky as it is lying on a slope.  One goof and it will slide or roll down.

Best Regards,

25 Marker stone on Peel Rise [????- ]

Submitted by Admin on Fri, 08/21/2009 - 12:53

If you're walking the Hong Kong trail in a clockwise direction, you'll see this stone where it meets Peel Rise. The stone is on the opposite side of Peel Rise.

The stone is mostly buried in concrete and tarmac, so it's not possible to see if anything is engraved on the sides. The top is engraved with '<- 25 ->', with the arrows pointing along the direction of Peel Rise.

24 / 25 marker stone where staircase meets Peel Rise [????- ]

This stone is on Peel Rise. There's a concrete staircase that comes down the hill, a shortcut from the Hong Kong trail to this part of Peel Rise. On the western side of Peel Rise you'll see this stone in the bank.

On top there is '<- 25 ->', pointing along Peel Rise.

On one side is '<- 24', pointing in the direction the HK Trail takes as it follows  the curved catchwater across the stream.

WWII bunkers in the Aberdeen Reservoir Area [????- ]

Submitted by tngan on Mon, 08/17/2009 - 14:26

Hi there,

This one is well hidden.  You have to past the very last bunker by the left, then look for it towards the hill side.  It is just abo8ut 20 feets away from the fence.  It's location is about on the opposite side of the bunker facing Aberdeen Reservoir Road.  I suspect these two are linked up back to back, but there is no way to confirm it without breaking into one of them.

Best Regards,
