Douglas Lapraik was a British watchmaker, shipbuilder and shipping magnate of Scottish origins.
Lapraik arrived in Hong Kong in 1842 from Macao, working as a watchmaker. Some time later he started his own business. He soon found out that more money could be made in trading and shipping, therefore he became a shipping agent. During the 1850s and 1860s, he made much money and became one of the taipans of Hong Kong. With his money, he was involved in many business activities.
Mary Monica Coupe was better known as Sister Mary Eucharista. She served the Maryknoll Sisters and was transferred from the Philippines to Hong Kong in 1935.
During the Japanese invasion, she resided in the convent in Holy Spirit School on Caine Road. After the fall of Hong Kong, the Sisters at the convent worked at Queen Mary Hospital to help care for the wounded. On 21 January 1942, Sister Mary Eucharista and her group of Sisters from Hong Kong Island were interned at Stanley Camp. In camp, she worked in the library.
Hercules George Robert Robinson, 1st Baron Rosmead, GCMG, PC , was a British colonial administrator who became the 5th Governor of Hong Kong.
On 17 June 1859, aged 35, Robinson was appointed as Governor of Hong Kong, the youngest in Hong Kong colonial history, as which he served until March 1865. On 28 June 1859, he was knighted in recognition of his services for introducing coolie labour into the territory.
Brother Bernard George Petley was better known as Brother Anselm and belonged to the Maryknoll Mission. He was assigned to Hong Kong in 1928.
Brother Anselm was interned at Stanley Camp and later repatriated to the United States in 1942.

In the 1938 Jurors List, Felix Frederick Arthur Dunnett worked as a clerk for Lowe, Bingham & Matthews. He married an American woman, Jennie Paula White whose father, Claude Ellsworth White is mentioned here. The Dunnetts had a son, Michael born in November 1940.
Frances Charlotte Cooper was married to John Antony Cooper in Foochow. Both were interned at Stanley Camp.
Being American born, Mrs. Cooper was on the Gripsholm passenger list and repatriated to the United States in 1942. Her spouse being British remained at Stanley Camp.

Frederick Arthur Ewins was born in England on March 4th, 1904, and served with the British Army and the Shanghai Defence Force before joining the Shanghai Municipal Police as a Probationary Sergeant in 1928. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1931, Sub-Inspector in 1937 and Inspector in 1941. His contract was terminated by the Japanese on February 22nd, 1943.
