David Mercer MACDOUGALL [1904-1991]

D. M. MacDougall came to Hong Kong as a Cadet in 1928. He headed the Ministry of Information during the hostilities of December 1941 and then escaped on Christmas Day in the party led by Admiral Chan Chak. In September 1944 he was appointed to head the Hong Kong Planning Unit in London. Returned to the Colony on September 7, 1945, eventually taking over as Colonial secretary.

In 1941, was the Secretary for Chinese Affairs.

While in Stanley Camp, he prepared some sort of regular news bulletin. R E Jones describes him as "the chap here who makes up a series of very useful notes from the Chinese & Japanese papers".

Robert Andrew Dermod FORREST [1893-c.1977]

I'm looking for photos / sketches / portraits of him for the CPS project's history book.

The RAS article HONG KONG CADETS, 1862-1941 gives a brief introduction:

Robert Andrew Dermod Forrest (born 1893). Educated at Aberdeen University. Hong Kong Civil Service 1919; Inspector of vernacular Schools; Immigration Officer 1940. Lecturer in Tibeto-Burman Linguistics at the School of Oriental and African Studies at London University.
