Looking for Hong Kong expert

Submitted by Paris92 on

Hi, there,

I'm a writer who is looking for a local Hong Kong expert to provide a quote and/or information and/or cultural insight for an article I'm writing for an Internet site. I can't provide payment but I can tell you it's a very respected, well-known site. I can provide further details but it has to do with the funeral supply stores in the Sheung Wan area. If anyone happens to be in the funeral industry in HK that would be incredible.

East India Company in Hong Kong?

Submitted by ob_terras_reclusas on

I have been trying to look for landmarks and places related to the East India Company in Hong Kong. I have a few ideas and I am wondering if anyone has any more suggestion/addition to the list below?

- Places related to the Parsees community in Hong Kong (though the Parsees were here before the British came, plenty of them were brought here by the East India Company later and also a huge amount of their trade were related to the EIC later on before the monopoly ended)

Murray House Haunting

Submitted by Heidy Choi on

Hi everyone!

We're looking into the Murray House at Stanley, and are attempting to find the truth behind the ghost stories, and we were wondering if anyone would be able to help us out with a few facts as we're fact checking articles on the basis of history; we'd be forever grateful! We've tried to research into the facts elsewhere but haven't been able to come across much, and are aware that there's a comment regarding the hauntings on the Murray House listing on Gwulo already, but it doesn't state much hard evidence.

Protecting Hong Kong Names

Submitted by acklbbc on

Hi all,

For years(actually from childhood) I can't help but notice that there is a lot of confusion on the geographic divisions of neighbourhoods in Hong Kong. The more research I did, the more I have found there has been a vast amount of manipulation from the Establishment (real estate developers, the government, the MTRC, etc.) on our perception of this space that we live in. It is chaotic and full of contradictions at the moment, and actions should taken to protect our heritage.

Hong Kong, French Connections

Submitted by fdremeaux on

Numerous French citizens, many anonymous, some famous, have explored every corner of Hong Kong, leaving on it their mark and their memories. Diplomats’ reports, missionaries’ chronicles, businessmen’s stories and artists’ works, so many captivating memories gathered together for the first time.

By means of modest moments from people’s lives, precious accounts previously unpublished, “Hong Kong, French connections” paints an impressionist picture of a city always on the move.
