The Hong Kong and Singapore Battalion Royal Artillery (HKSRA)—known historically as the Hong Kong and Singapore Royal Garrison Artillery—had an authorized establishment varying between 240 and 280 men (Sikh and Punjabi personnel) in its early mountain batteries.
During WWII, an expanded force of approximately 830 Indian other ranks alongside British officers served in the unit during the 1941 Battle of Hong Kong.

A H Potts described Captain Fox as the adjutant of the Hong Kong and Singapore Royal Artillery.

In his diary entry for 16 Dec 1941, Major Monro noted that Proes "has been made C.B. ((Counter Battery)) Officer".

One name which constantly crops up in any study of Hong Kong's Military History is that of the Hong Kong Singapore Battalion of the Royal Artillery.
However, information on the HKSRA is scarce. A very valuable account of the battalion's early history was carried in a special New Year Supplement of the South China Morning Post in 1905. The text is as follows:
