Arthur Cecil WARREN [1906-1930]

Submitted by jill on

Arthur Cecil Warren was the fourth child of Charles Edward Warren and Hannah Mabel Warren. Like his brothers he was educated in Hong Kong, Canada and England. He joined C.E. Warren & Co., Hong Kong in 1923 the same year that his father died and at the same time as his elder brother, Leslie, took over management of the company. He had to return to England for medical treatment in 1928 or 1929 and died of pulmonary tuberculosis on 21 April 1930 at the Southampton Isolation Hospital aged only 23.

Cecilia TARRANT (née MILLAR) [c.1878-1940]

Firstly what an amazing site this is!

I came across it trying to establish the family of Cecilia Tarrant nee Millar. Cecilia was married to John Arthur Tarrant between 1900-1906.  John Arthur Tarrant worked for A&S Watson. There seem to be a couple of Millar families in Kowloon and I wondered if anyone knew if Cecilia was connected to them?

I regret coming so late to your party! ..and I'm not sure how probing the old scar tissue is going to work out - but here goes anyway..

As I read the old messages a bell jangles in several places - too many to cover in one hit, so I'll pick on a couple.

Margery Fortescue! My mother (Norah Potter) mentions her many times in her notes: they were good friends in Stanley.

Thanks to Joan for these notes about her life:

I was born in Hong Kong in 1935 & stayed there until I left with my mother, brother and sister on the M/V "Neptuna" in August of 1940, bound for Australia.  (Incidentally the "Neptuna" was later sunk in Darwin.)
