Dorothy Margaret Georgina WHEELER (née PILE) [1904-1934]

Submitted by Peter Flynn on

She appears in the cemetery record (along with her infant son Peter).

What I am seeking is her marriage to Allan Wheeler around 1920-23. I have had a formal search done by the records office for St Andrews Church, which my mother (her daughter) believed to be the place, but with no result. I have checked the cathedral transcriptions on this site, and they are not in that. What I don't know, therefore, is which church — and I don't know which churches were there in the 1920s, nor whereabouts they lived.

Submitted by jill on

Elizabeth Warnes was the second daughter of John Olson snr. and half sister to Hannah Warren. Her mother was Ching Ah-Fung. Her other siblings were John Olson jnr., Charles W. Olson and Ellen Melcher née Olson. She married Charles Aspinell Warnes at St John's Cathedral in 1905. Their children were Iris, Marjorie and Cyril. Iris's and Marjorie's descendants now live in Australia. They lost touch with their brother, Cyril, who is thought to have emigrated to Canada. Elizabeth is buried in the Protestant Cemetery in Happy Valley near her parents.

Margaret Anne BOND [c.1878-1971]

Submitted by jill on

One of the earliest residents of Broadwood Road is given in the Rate Books as Miss Margaret Annie Bond, a neighbour of my grandfather, C.E. Warren. Her house was no. 8 and called "Beaumont". Other Broadwood Road house owners at the time were C.S. Gubbay and Ellis Kadoorie, so I imagine Miss Bond was quite well off.  I wonder if anyone knows of any record of this lady or whether any photos of her exist.
