Francis Oswald REED [1913-1941]

Francis Oswald was the sixth son of Amaro John and Maria Rita Reed, born in 1913.  He was an investment accountant at Hong Kong Land.  Francis married Vera de Carvalho In October, 1941 at St. Margaret's Church.  His eldest brother Edgar was his best man and his other brother Arthur's daughter Mary was the flower girl.  The bride's best man was architect Al Alvares and her sister Ina de Carvalho was her bridesmaid. Tragically, Francis lost his life defending Hong Kong on 

Arthur Augustus REED [1908-1941]

Arthur Augustus was the fourth son of Amaro John and Maria Rita Reed.  He attended Hong Kong University where he studied Engineering. He was in his last year when Ricci Hall opened, and he stayed till his graduation.  Arthur was Secretary of the Ricci Hall Students' Association and an active footballer. He joined China Light & Power Company after graduating as an engineer, and was an energetic worker in the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Arthur married Marie Diniz on May 17, 1938 at Church of Christ the King in Shanghai, where Marie was from.

Stephen Arnold REED [1910-1942]

Stephen was the fifth son of Amaro John and Maria Rita Reed, born in 1910. Stephen attended Hong Kong University where he studied Arts and was very prominent in the Hostel and University.  He was a football "Green", captain of the University soccer team, and member of the 1st XI in cricket and hockey.  In Ricci Hall he served as treasurer, secretary and chairman.

Edgar Vincent REED [1905-1941]

Edgar was the second son of Amaro John and Maria Rita Reed. Before the war, Edgar was a chartered accountant in the Taxation Department of the Hong Kong Government.  He and his brothers attended Diocesan Boys School, and Edgar went on to study at St.

Reginald John REED (aka Reggie) [1914-1980]

Reggie was the youngest of seven sons born to Amaro John and Maria Rita Reed.  Pre-war he was an accountant at Deacon's law firm. He survived the battle of Hong Kong but was captured on December 25, 1941.  He was transferred to the Shamshuipo Camp on January 7, 1942 and liberated on September 2, 1945.  His eldest brother Robert Cyril (Bobby) was also a POW at Shamshuipo Camp.
