Sarah Gemmell Morrison was appointed nursing sister of the Medical Department on 12 August 1927. She appears to have been known as "Sally".

She married George Merriman, Revenue Officer of the Imports and Exports Department at Union Church on 31 August 1935. They had their honeymoon in Japan.

In 1939, she was employed as a Temporary Nursing Sister in the Medical Department. She was also a member of the Auxiliary Nursing Service. The Hong Kong War Diary mentioned that she was stationed at St. Paul's Hospital during the Battle of Hong Kong.

After Hong Kong's surrender, Sarah Merriman was interned at Stanley Camp with her husband.

Her name/signature appears as "Sally G. Merriman" (but with her letters "M" and "n" inverted as "W" and "u") under "Stanley Prison" on the "Day Joyce Sheet" held by the Imperial War Museum. See: https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30083388. An explanation of the "Day Joyce Sheet" is given at: https://gwulo.com/media/46458
