Felix Maurice Ellis was a stockbroker.
He enlisted in the HKVDC in July 1940 and was a Lance Corporal (4550). After the fall of Hong Kong, he was interned at Sham Shui Po Camp. His other family members were interned at Stanley Camp.
His name is listed incorrectly in Hong Kong War Diary under HKVDC as "Felix Morris Ellis". He died in 1949 and is buried in the Jewish Cemetery at Happy Valley.

HKVDC 3rd Battery at the Aberdeen

The 3rd Battery, HKVDC (Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps) was a coastal artillery unit that defended Hong Kong during World War II. Commanded by Capt. Charles W. L. Cole with 3 officers and 75 men, they were stationed at the Aberdeen Battery on Ap Lei Chau Island.
The unit is notable for engaging Japanese forces crossing from Lamma Island on December 11, 1941.
