The Peniel Church was located at 1 School Road and opened on 29 September 1936. The opening of the Church was covered by the China Mail the following day. See here

Cheung Chau Peniel Mission Church back story
These notes are from the diary of missionary Rose Reiton, who with her husband Albert founded the Yaumati Peniel Mission Church in Kowloon in 1914 and the Cheung Chau Peniel Mission Church in 1936. From 1930-1936 they rented halls on the island for their meetings.
1930
Thursday, May 15 Albert and Mr. Cheung Shing Yau went to Cheung Chau and rented a place for a mission – $20 rent per month (1st location).
Saturday, May 17 Went to Hong Kong. Opened bank account with Mr. Cheung for Mission funds. Mr. Kwok and Ng Shap at Cheung Chau about the mission there.
Saturday, June 7
Opening day of Peniel in Cheung Chau. Large crowd went on 2:00 P.M. boat and many had gone on the early morning boat. Opening at 3:00 P.M. Foreigners present, Mr. and Mrs. Oden, Mr. and Mrs. Reiton and girls, Mr. Grant, Miss Southwick, Miss Bancroft and Miss Pierce. Miss Bancroft is the foreign worker. A rainy day. We came back on the 6:45 ferry. A happy day. Tea and cake in a tea house for all.
1931
Monday, May 18 Miss Southwick, Esther, Albert and I went to Cheung Chau. Looked at the waterfront place for a mission location. The other place leaks so.
Thursday, June 18 Got up at 4:00 A.M. and went to the Island. It was the opening of the mission on the waterfront street and the first anniversary meeting of Peniel at the Island. (2nd location)
When they stayed overnight on the island they used House #25 - 'Miss Hitchcock's House'.
