Sister Louise Farrell was better known as Sister Ann Mary. She served the Maryknoll Sisters and later became the Principal at Maryknoll Convent School. In 1928, her assignment to Hong Kong began her career in education. She developed a passion for integrating teaching and Christian thinking.
During the fall of Hong Kong, she was stationed at Maryknoll Convent School in Kowloon Tong. On 8 February 1942, a group of eighteen Sisters of the school, including Sister Ann Mary were interned at Stanley Camp. In September 1942, Sister Ann Mary and other Maryknoll missionaries were released from confinement (see here). In late 1942, she and three other Maryknoll Sisters made their way to Macau to assist refugees and the poor and needy.
She returned to Hong Kong in 1946, in time to 'rebuild' and reopen Maryknoll Convent School. After Hong Kong, Sister Ann Mary was assigned to other overseas postings in Taiwan and Japan.
