Cameron Arthur Carter and his wife, Mabel were American missionaries and Seventh-day Adventists. They sailed to China in 1922 and worked in different parts of the country during their long and illustrious career.

In August 1938, the Carters arrived in Hong Kong. Cameron A. Carter began working for the China Training Institute that had opened a temporary school in Sha Tin whilst a permanent school was being constructed in Clearwater Bay. In 1939, he became President of the new campus. In May 1941, Mabel and their daughter had left for the United States, leaving Carter behind.

Carter was recovering from malaria when war broke out. He was interned at Stanley Camp and once inside, suffered from beriberi. He was later repatriated to the United Sates, arriving on the Gripsholm on 25 August 1942. Soon after his arrival, he and five other Adventists registered for national service but Carter was never drafted.

Carter and Mabel returned to Hong Kong and China in 1948 to continue their missionary work. They eventually left the Orient for good in 1959.
