John Edmund Perdue was an American missionary serving the Assemblies of God in South China. In 1942, he was aged 50 and married. His wife had left Hong Kong before the Japanese attack. Perdue was repatriated with other Americans later that year.
The Assemblies of God Heritage Magazine (Winter 1991) has an article on "Missionaries Caught in the Crossfire" in Hong Kong during the Japanese invasion. Perdue and his fellow missionaries are mentioned, including photos of themselves on board the exchange ship "Gripsholm". See here
