  • Kong Yat-sen was the bodyguard of Kwok Chuen (郭泉), one of the founders of Wing On Company. Due to Kwok Chuen's support for the China Congregational Church (中華基督教會公理堂), Kong also embraced Christianity. He served as a member of the Church Council from 1941 to 1945 and later became a deacon (1).
  • Prior to the war, Kong developed a friendship with a Japanese businessman who spoke Mandarin and had business connections with Kwok Chuen. Their bond was further strengthened by their shared Christian faith. However, during the Japanese occupation, Kong discovered that this Japanese friend held the true identity of a Major General in the army, believed to be Major General Ichiro Suganami (菅波一郎), the Chief of Staff of the Occupation Government. With the assistance of the Major General, Kong successfully rescued Rev. Charlie Cheung (張祝齡牧師) of the China Congregational Church. Kong's biography also chronicles his experiences with the Major General. (2)
